NEWS> TWO arraigned for stealing shoes and bags
Two men -Umar Haruna, 30, and Abdul Habib, 19- have been arraigned
before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing shoes and bags
valued at N15m.
The police said the incident happened on the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.
They were said to have burgled the shop of one Florita Oputa, who deals in the accessories.
The duo allegedly carted away the materials at about 6pm before they were apprehended and handed over to law enforcement agents.
The charge read in part, “That you, Umar Haruna, and Abdul Habib and others at large on the 16th day of September, 2013, at about 6pm at No 44, Balogun Street, Lagos Island, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire to commit felony, to wit stealing, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”
They pleaded not guilty to the three counts.
The magistrate, Mrs. S. K. Matepo, admitted them to bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till October 14.
