HEALTH> gov shettima donates blood to pregnant woman in borno

A pregnant woman in need of blood was saved by the Borno State governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima when he paid an unsheduled visit to General Muhammadu Shuwa Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The Commissioner of health, Dr. Salma Anas Kolo disclosed this on Wednesday while sharing experiences during the celebration of international day of peace organised by Youth Federation for World Peace at the North-East peace summit in Maiduguri.
Kolo said that the Governor was moved by the circumstances he met the woman during the visit.
He added that the Governor discovered through the medical attendant that his blood group matched that of the woman.
“The Governor in his usual mannerism indicated interest to give his blood to save the woman. This is what is expected of a leader, and Governor Kashim Shettima has been teaching the people of Borno State what it means to be a true servant leader”, she said.
Dr. Kolo, who also bagged an award for peace, further encouraged the people to continue to work towards finding a last peace in the state.
